IVF Treatment
The Best Treatment in Coimbatore
In vitro fertilisation, or IVF, is an assisted reproductive treatment in which eggs are collected from the ovaries and combined with sperm in a controlled laboratory environment. After fertilisation, the resulting embryos are observed during their early development. A suitable embryo may then be transferred into the uterus, while additional suitable embryos may be frozen after appropriate consent. An IVF cycle generally involves ovarian stimulation, monitoring, egg collection, fertilisation, embryo development and embryo transfer.

When May IVF Be Recommended?
- Blocked or severely damaged fallopian tubes
- Moderate or severe endometriosis
- Significant male-factor infertility
- Reduced fertility associated with age
- Unsuccessful ovulation-induction or IUI cycles
- Long-standing unexplained infertility
- Reduced ovarian reserve in selected patients
- Previous fertility-treatment failure
- Conditions requiring donor eggs, sperm or embryos
- Other complex female or male fertility concerns
IVF is not always the first treatment. The recommendation depends on the diagnosis, age, fertility history and probability of success with simpler treatments.
IVF Treatment Process
Step 1: Initial Fertility Assessment
Both partners undergo an evaluation. Previous test reports, treatment history, general health and reproductive goals are reviewed.
Step 2: Ovarian Stimulation
Fertility medicines are prescribed to encourage several follicles to develop. The response is monitored through ultrasound scans and, when required, blood tests.
Step 3: Final Maturation Injection
When the follicles are ready, a final injection may be given to support egg maturation. Egg retrieval is carefully timed after this medication.
Step 4: Egg Retrieval
Eggs are collected from the ovaries through an ultrasound-guided procedure, usually under sedation or suitable anaesthesia.
Step 5: Sperm Preparation
A semen sample is collected and processed. Additional male-fertility procedures may be considered when sperm cannot be obtained naturally.
Step 6: Fertilisation
The eggs are fertilised through conventional IVF or through ICSI when medically indicated.
Step 7: Embryo Development
The fertilised eggs are observed as they develop. Not every collected egg will be mature, not every mature egg will fertilise, and not every embryo will continue developing.
Step 8: Embryo Transfer
A suitable embryo is placed inside the uterus using a thin catheter. Embryo transfer generally does not require major anaesthesia.
Step 9: Pregnancy Test
A pregnancy test is performed on the date advised by the clinic.
