Laparoscopic Gynaecology

Laparoscopic gynaecology uses small incisions and a camera to diagnose or treat selected conditions affecting the uterus, ovaries, fallopian tubes and pelvis. Compared with open surgery, minimally invasive procedures may offer smaller incisions and a shorter recovery for appropriate patients.

- Selected fibroids
- Pelvic adhesions
- Ectopic pregnancy
- Tubal disease
- Chronic pelvic pain
- Selected uterine or adnexal conditions
Possible Procedures
- Diagnostic laparoscopy
- Treatment of endometriosis
- Ovarian cystectomy
- Adhesiolysis

- Salpingectomy or tubal surgery when indicated
- Laparoscopic hysterectomy for appropriate non-fertility conditions

Treatment Planning
The surgical approach depends on symptoms, imaging, fertility goals, previous surgery, anaesthetic risk and the size and location of the abnormality. Fertility-preserving alternatives should be discussed when future pregnancy is desired.
